| Description |
| EAGLE MASTIC is an high quality 100% acrylic latex based adhesive, off-white and creamy for wall installation of natural stone and ceramic tile. This ready-to-use mastic is formulated for residential interior ceramic tile installation, for light traffic, horizontal or vertical surfaces. Non-toxic and non-flammable, it offers a very good adhesion on conventional substrates and metallic surfaces. Ceramic tiles up to 305 X 305 mm (12” X 12”) in dimension can be installed vertically with EAGLE MASTIC without any sagging. Once completely dry, it offers an excellent water resistance. Take note that rigorous attention must be taken to execute surface preparation conform to trade practices and Eagle Black’s surface preparation guidelines. |
| Surface Preparation |
All surfaces to be covered shall be structurally sound, clean and free from traces of dust, oil, grease, wax, paint, curing agent, coatings and loose particles. They must also be exempt from any trace or presence of acids, concentrated alkalis, chemical cleaning agent or any other material that can reduce adhesion. Substrates like particleboard, chipboard, Lauan, press wood or Masonite are not appropriate for mastic products. The only recommended wood substrate for residential floors is exterior grade plywood installed in an interior dry area. All concrete substrates shall be completely cured and at least 28 days old, free from hydrostatic conditions and/or humidity problems. They must be roughened to give better adherence. Gypsum Drywall panels and plaster joints must be primed with a coat of Eagle Prime Plus latex. Ambient, surface and product temperature must be superior to 10ºC (50ºF)and lower than 35ºC (95ºF) before installation and for the first 48 hours. |
| Mixing |
Ready to use, no mixing required. Apply immediately with recommended trowel.
Clean working tools and hands with water while product is still fresh. |
| Application |
Spread and press mastic on surface to be covered with flat edge of trowel. Quickly add mastic and using notch side of the trowel, spread mastic uniformly, taking care to trace ridge lines in the same straight line direction. For walls, trace ridges in horizontal direction.
Spread enough mastic so that the surface can be covered in less than about 20 minutes. If ridges have slightly dried and if there is skin formation at the surface, there will be no adherence, mastic will have to be removed and a fresh coat applied. Press tiles firmly with a back and forth motion across ridges to obtain full mastic transfer at the back of tiles. Tiles must be embedded at 1/3 of their thickness in mastic. Never wet tiles prior to their application, if so, it must be advised by tile manufacturer. Clean working tools and hands with water while product is still fresh. |
| Curing |
Protect surfaces for 48 hours. Curing time may vary according to temperature and humidity level. When installation is on a floor, make sure application is dry prior to allow light traffic for grouting. |
