| Description |
EAGLE COLBLACK is an adhesive asphalt emulsion based, with modified polymer, high quality, for vinyl composite tile (VCT) installation. This ready-to-use adhesive is formulated for interior vinyl tiles installation, vertically or horizontally, residential or commercial uses. Being ammonia free, odorless and non-flammable, it has very good adhesion on conventional substrates, cut-back residues and already existing composite vinyl floors, all substrates being adequately prepared. Take note that rigorous attention must be taken to execute surface preparation conform to trade practices and Eagle Black’s surface preparation guidelines. |
| Surface Preparation |
All surfaces to be covered shall be structurally sound, clean, dry and free from traces of dust, oil, grease, wax, paint, curing agent, coatings and loose particles. They must also be exempt from any trace or presence of acids, concentrated alkalis, chemical cleaning agents or any other material that can reduce adhesion. Substrates like particleboard, chipboard, Lauan, press wood or Masonite are not appropriate. The only recommended wood substrate for residential floors is exterior grade plywood installed in an interior dry area. All concrete substrates shall be completely cured and at least 28 days old, free from hydrostatic conditions and/or humidity problems. They can be lightly scarified to give more adherence.
Ambient, surface and product temperature must be superior to 10ºC (50ºF)and lower than 35ºC (95ºF) before the installation and for the first 24 hours. |
| Mixing |
Ready to use, no mixing required. Apply immediately with recommended trowel. Clean working tools and hands with water while product is still fresh. |
| Application |
Apply with a notched trowel, as recommended by vinyl manufacturer, to ensure 90% adhesive transfer on vinyl tile backing.
Spread adhesive uniformly. Let dry until there is no transfer on fingertips when touched. Press tiles firmly on dried but sticky adhesive. Roll recommended roller across the width and length of flooring surface. Promptly clean any adhesive smudges from vinyl surface with water while adhesive is still fresh or with mineral spirits when dried. Clean working tools and hands with water while product is still fresh. |
| Curing |
Eagle Colblack takes about 30 minutes before becoming dry to touch, depending on surface porosity. Let adhesive cure for 24 hours prior to allow normal traffic to allow proper adhesive setup. |

3,78 l covers about 21 m² (225 ft²). With a 1 X 1.5 X 1 mm (1/32” X 1/16” X 1/32”) Trowel. Coverage rate and drying time is dependent of surface porosity and temperature. |

| Storage |
Store in a dry and fresh area. KEEP FROM FREEZING. Shelf life is 12 months in its original non-opened.
